Director’s/Playwright’s Notes

“What is memory other than the story we tell ourselves about the past… But if memory is subjective, who’s to say the story is true… And if we change the story, what does that mean for our future…” Rosa Laborde

The playwright wishes to thank Aephraim Steinberg from the University of Toronto’s Physics Department for consulting on the probabilities of living in a multiverse, as well as Dr. David Tal from St. Joseph’s Hospital for his expertise on Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

True is published by Scirocco Drama.

What the press said:

the Globe and mail

“Rosa Labordé’s True takes the question of deteriorating memories into more metaphysical territory. It is a tightly woven, highly emotional one-act play filled with humour and heartbreak...And one hopes it ends up in theatres across the country.”

NOW MAGAZINE

“Late Shakespearean tragedy meets Alzheimer's disease and quantum physics in Rosa Labordé's complex play, a sort of modern-day spin on King Lear… This is a riveting, moving piece of theatre that should not be missed.
