project undertow is a group of five multi-disciplinary theatre artists:
ingrid rae doucet
Ingrid has spent the last three summers at Ship’s Company Theatre in Nova Scotia, where she performed in the world premiere productions of Trout Stanley (nominated for a Nova Scotia Merritt award), Brighter than the Light of the Sun, and most recently, The Mystery of Maddy Heisler (Merritt Nomination). After graduating from Acadia University with a BFA in Drama, she trained with Mermaid Theatre as a Puppeteer, and toured extensively with them for five years throughout Canada, the US and Europe. She has also performed with Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People, playing the title role in the puppet play Pinocchio, and played leading roles at Magnus Theatre, Theatre New Brunswick and Shakespeare by the Sea. She can be heard in countless voice-overs and seen in numerous commercials. She is a founding member of Project Undertow and The D.A.’s Office.
pamela rhae ferguson
Pamela is a native of Saskatoon where she received her B.A. Honours in Drama from the University of Saskatchewan. She performed and toured with Persephone Youth Theatre before moving to Chicago, Illinois to attend The Theatre School at DePaul University (formerly the Goodman School of Drama) and graduated with an M.F.A. in Acting. Her plays have been workshopped and produced at Regina's Globe Theatre (Witch), Chicago Dramatists' Workshop (it happened on a train...), and by Toronto's Theatre Hybrid (Dark of the Moon). Pam wrote and performed her one-woman show, Deirdre's Curse, at the Saskatoon and Vancouver International Fringe Festivals. She appeared as Holga in EST's acclaimed production of After the Fall, Harper in Angels in America (Merle Reskin Theatre), Nina in The Seagull (Greystone Theatre), and Isabella in Measure for Measure (Arena Stage). In March 2006 Pam took her latest one-woman show, Red Sky in the Morning, to 25th Street Theatre's Her-icane GoDiva Festival of Women's Art. She is a founding member of The D.A.’s Office and Project Undertow.
anna hardwick
Originally from Ottawa, Anna studied at Arts Canterbury High School before leaving for England to train at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). Recent Theatre includes: Corie, Barefoot in the Park, directed by Graham Cozzubbo (Theatre & Co), Mary, Mary’s Wedding (Bluewater), Helena, All’s Well That Ends Well and Olivia in Twelfth Night (Shakespeare in the Square), Death of a Salesman, directed by John Cooper (Theatre Aquarius), Asta in Little Eyolf, directed by John Neville as part of ‘The Ibsen Project,’ and The Sea, directed by Brenda Bazinet (Actors Repertory Company). Film and TV includes: CBC's H20-2, The Trojan Horse, directed by Charles Binamé, Disney’s Twitches, ‘Til Death Do Us Part and Renuka Jeyapalan's Baggage. At SummerWorks 2005, Anna co-produced and performed in the critically-acclaimed Cancer Time, by Gary Owen, directed by Graham Cozzubbo. Recently, Anna Associate Produced and performed in ‘The Strindberg Project,’ playing Gerda in The Pelican, directed by John Neville. Anna is a founding member of The D.A.’s Office and Project Undertow.
rosa laborde
Rosa was recently nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award in the category of Outstanding New Play for her play Leo - which also graced top ten lists and year-end wrap-ups for 2006 in the Toronto Star, NOW Magazine, The Globe & Mail and The National Post. Leo was remounted at the Tarragon and is now on a national tour. Her previous play Sugar was named Outstanding New Play by NOW Magazine and is in development as a feature film. Other plays include The Source and the upcoming Eve. She will also be playwright-in-residence at the Tarragon Theatre for the 2007-2008 Season. Rosa is an acting graduate of The Oxford School of Drama in England. Numerous credits as an actor in Film and TV include History Bites, Meteor, At the Hotel, Missing, 72 Hours, Street Time, Doc, Puppets Who Kill, Jack & Jill VS. The World and onstage: Paul Bettis' Svengali's, Theatre Viscera's Nurture and the CBC Radio Dramas, The Communion and The Long Way Home. Rosa produced the theatre component of the Salvador Allende Arts Festival for Peace in 2004, is an Associate Artist and Co-Director for Seventh Stage Productions and is a founding member of The D.A.'s Office and Project Undertow. dylan smith
Dylan Smith studied drama and literature at The University of Toronto and acting at The Webber Douglas Academy in London, UK. He also studied with Soulpepper Theatre in their inaugural season under Robin Phillips and performed in Don Carlos. Dylan has worked in British TV and Film, taking lead roles opposite Alfred Molina in, Murder on The Orient Express for CBS, as well as making a guest star appearance on BBC’s Eastenders. Dylan also did play development work with The National Theatre, while performing on the Fringe in various productions. In 2003 he created the company Wise Donkey Productions, whose mandate was to premiere new Canadian writing in Europe, mounting Zadie’s Shoes, by Adam Pettle, in London at the Finborough Arms, and then was invited to stage Poochwater, by Mike McPhaden at the Edinburgh Festival, both to great acclaim. In 2005 he returned to Canada and began working closely with Diego Matamoros and The D.A.’s Office. In the summer of 2006 Dylan took a lead role in the TV adaptation of Guy Vanderhague’s The Englishman’s Boy, scheduled for release in 2007.
